Welcome to FOJ’s “Know Before You Go” UTV/SxS Online Safety Course. The course is free and you will receive a free Jawbone OHV Trail Map upon completion. This safety course is for UTV operators of any age and skill level. Although our focus is on the OHV trails in the Jawbone region in southern California, it is open to UTV operators anywhere.
The Jawbone & Dove Springs OHV region has thousands of miles of legal OHV routes that are regularly enjoyed by thousands of UTV operators and passengers. These OHV routes are also enjoyed by motorcycles, quads, buggies, and 4×4’s. Some sections of trails have better visibility than others. Some routes are atop ridges while others are in deep and narrow washes. UTV operators can expect to encounter other OHV’s on the trails, so knowing how to share our trails helps keep everyone safe.
Taking this course is 100% optional. There is no requirement to take this brief safety course. Some states now require its residents to complete an online course to operate an OHV on public lands in their states. California does not yet have this requirement.
Required or not, we believe that virtually every UTV operator will learn, or re-learn, something from this brief, and free, safety course.
